Montevertine's Pian del Ciampolo bottling is made for earlier drinking. This is a delightfully lithe and light style of Sangiovese, with fresh red cherry fruit aromas, notes of red currants and anise. Lively fruit, balanced out by earthy tannins, this is what Sangiovese should always taste like.

The wine bursts with cherry aromas and a fragrant nose of violets, wild strawberry and a touch of rose. It's drinking superbly now but could be cellared for a few more years.

About Montevertine

Montevertine is situated on Chianti estate which has been occupied since the 11th century. In 1967, it was purchased by Sergio Manetti, who planted two hectares, producing his first wines in 1971.

Sergio's frustrations with the the strict winemaking rules of the region led him to release his wines under a less restrictive classification, while producing wines of utmost quality. After Sergio's death in 2000, the estate was taken over by Sergio's son Martino, who continues to this day as winemaker.

Montevertine focuses predominantly on Sangiovese, but also grows the lesser known varieties Canaiolo and Colorino, and there are 18 hectares in total divided across nine zones.
